Ken's Corner
Welcome to my humble corner. Here I have been given the privilage to post my thoughts and views with regards to what's
going on in our society.

It had been a few weeks already since Pope John Paul II passed away. Now, a new pope has taken the mantle of St. Peter.
Formerly known as Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, Pope Benedict XVI is the new beacon of our Catholic Faith. With this in mind,
a question pops up in our mind, are we heading for a better future or worst? Some had said him to be conservative, to some he is a full-fledge modernist.
So do we have a renewed hope that our new pope will turn back to the ways of tradition or will he steer us to face the wrath
of God?
I, for one, do not believe he will be our savior in these dark times, in fact, I believe he will be much worst than Pope John
Paul II. Already the Jews are supporting him and the Protestants are saying that he is 99% correct in his understanding about
the translation in the bible. (Doesn't that mean that he is already 99% Protestant since I doubt that the Protestants will
ever change the way they understand the Faith). He had already given his word that he will continue the work of our late pope with regards to liniency towards other religions. I'm not sure what they are thinking in Rome but if by being lenient means not only making peace with them but also embracing their beliefs. I'd rather have them declare war. At least Catholics can die a martyr than burn in hell because of this so called "love" for peace. Don't mistake me for being a war freak or something like that but with the things that are currently happening to our church, it seems that we are in rougher waters now. No wonder that the Book of Revelations have hinted that saints born during these times will be tested more than ever before, they will not only be persecuted by the world but also the very leaders they trust.
Nevertheless, we must still be thankful that he is our current Pope since the other candidates are outright liberals. Pray
that God will give him enlightenment and grace to fulfill his duties for he will be responsible for the souls of all Catholics,
Traditional or Modern. Furthermore, let us pray for the soul of our dear departed pope, Pope John Paul II, that he may soon
enter the gates of heaven.

A few reasons why we should say NO to House Bill No. 16 (2 Child Policy Bill).
This bill is being passed by the congress at this very moment and it seems ok if you don’t know its content but it’s like
a wolf in sheep’s clothing. It’s a wonder why the media is keeping quiet about this.
1. Population is not the reason why our country is experiencing financial problems. It is our corrupt government.
(All of us know that!)
2. We don’t need to have a law concerning population since our birth rate is already declining as it is. For more
info, check on this website. (The data is from our own national statistics office, if we are really having problems
in over-population, they should know. Furthermore, according to NSO Press Release No. 2000-60: Annual Population
Growth Rate is Down to 2.0 Percent, but if we really need to decrease our population, we are already doing ok without
the bill.)
3. It is a violation of equal rights since the government will only give benefits to families with two children but
at the expense of the families with more than two children. We are not a communist country to promote this kind
of treatment. (Did it not occur to our government officials that our Muslim brothers will never follow such law?
Why have 2 wives if you can have only 2 children. Follow the logic in that cuz’ I don’t?)
4. Our nation’s major dollar earners are our OFW’s, if we are to decrease our population then who will provide for
the next generations. The bill will only be a slow suicidal course for our country since we will decrease the
probability to train more skilled workers for the future.
5. The bill removes the right of parents to provide guidance to their own children. The bill states that parents,
teachers or anyone who refuses to provide their children their sexual right will be fined 20,000 pesos and/or be
imprisoned. (Is our government already trustworthy enough to handle the morals of every child? Geesh… They can’t
even control the widespread of pornography in our country.)
6. Our economy may improve a bit due to the sudden decrease of demand and increase of supply but time will come
that supply will also be scarce due to the fact that there is less market to provide. (A business man understands
this very well.)
7. Big Population means healthy economy. (Why China is booming right now? Why are investors too eager to invest
in their country? Is it not because of their huge market potential? The fact remains that less market means
less investor.)
8. The only place in our country that may be over-populated is here in Metro Manila since most of our countrymen
in the provinces keep on migrating here thinking that they will have a better future in our nation’s capital
region. If our government will just try to convince businessmen and investors to start businesses those provinces,
surely they will not leave their home towns giving everyone better chances in their life.
9. Passing this bill will cause a chain reaction of legal/illegal abortion and divorce. (Don’t need to elaborate
more on this… one can already imagine what will happen)
10. Sex education which will be required in the curriculum will corrupt the innocent minds of our children since
upon passing the bill; schools are required to teach them in the elementary level. (Which is a much better solution,
ignorance or avoidance. Kindda like which is better, preventing cancer or finding a cure for it.)
11. Companies producing contraceptives are tax excepted. (To think that our government is proposing to tax some
our basic needs.)
12. Upon approval of this bill, the government will fund 100 Million pesos to initialize this project.
(And they say our country has financial problems…Manipulative aren’t they.)
